🎯 About the Role
UNICEF is seeking a qualified Health Manager (P-4) to join its office in Abuja, Nigeria. Working under the guidance of the Chief of Health and HIV, the Health Manager will play a key role in managing and driving UNICEF’s Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Planning & Management: Drive programme development, monitoring, and results-based reporting.
Technical & Advisory Support: Provide expert technical guidance on public health initiatives.
Advocacy & Partnerships: Build strategic partnerships, lead advocacy efforts, and mobilize resources.
Innovation & Capacity Building: Support knowledge management, foster innovative health strategies, and enhance institutional capacity.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
Education
An Advanced University Degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields (or a related technical field):
Public Health / Global Health / International Health
Epidemiology / Biostatistics
Health Policy, Management, or Research
Paediatric Health / Obstetrics & Gynaecology / Family Health
Socio-Medical Sciences / Health Education / Biology
Experience
Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in public health planning and management.
Proven track record in maternal and neonatal healthcare, HIV/TB/Malaria programmes, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
💼 Key Competencies & Desirables
Core Skills
Strong background in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and strategic planning.
Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and partnership building.
Language: Fluency in English is required.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working with a UN agency or in international development/humanitarian settings.
Hands-on experience with major global health funds (Global Fund, GFF, or GAVI).
Executive training in management, innovation, or gender inclusion.
Knowledge of a local Nigerian language or an additional UN official language.
