Overview
Young Africa Innovates is seeking experienced professionals, subject matter experts, and industry leaders to join Cohort 2 as external experts. The primary goal of this programme is to help young Nigerian entrepreneurs transform promising ideas into sustainable, impactful businesses that address real community needs, create jobs, and drive economic growth.
Available Expert Categories
Applicants can apply for one of three distinct roles based on their expertise, availability, and capacity to support entrepreneurs:
1. Facilitator
Expected Engagement: 2 Months
Role Summary: Lead practical, interactive learning sessions and workshops to help innovators develop, test, and refine their solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide innovators through human-centred design and community user research.
Facilitate rapid prototyping and minimum viable product (MVP) testing.
Simplify complex business concepts and tools for diverse learners.
Adapt session delivery to local languages and accessibility needs.
Connect solutions to viable market opportunities and commercial pathways.
Support participants in producing concrete business outputs beyond workshop attendance.
2. Mentor
Expected Engagement: Staggered over 8 Months
Role Summary: Provide personalized, ongoing guidance to help founders navigate the operational and psychological challenges of scaling a venture.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer strategic advice, constructive encouragement, and critical industry insights.
Keep founders focused, accountable, and resilient through growth milestones.
Break incubation requirements down into manageable, actionable weekly steps.
Track progress closely and support ongoing problem-solving.
Help innovators document key deliverables and prepare for stage progression and subsequent financial tranches.
3. Industry Expert
Expected Engagement: Staggered over 8 Months
Role Summary: Deliver specialized, targeted guidance to address critical technical or operational gaps within the ventures.
Key Areas of Focus: Technical development, regulatory compliance, financial management, and other sector-specific requirements.
