Job Purpose
Datasphir is seeking an organised and driven Programme Delivery and Operations Manager to turn strategy, contracts, and service commitments into successful, well-governed technology programmes.
In this role, you will lead coordination, planning, delivery control, governance, and operational reporting across Datasphir’s programme portfolio. You will work directly with leadership and cross-functional technical teams to keep initiatives visible, accountable, and aligned with organizational goals. While technical leads remain responsible for engineering implementation, you will serve as the engine driving execution, structure, and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Delivery & Planning
Translate organizational strategies, customer contracts, and approved initiatives into structured programmes, projects, and workstreams.
Develop work breakdown structures, integrated project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and clear acceptance criteria.
Maintain consolidated project schedules, action logs, decision logs, risk registers, and formal change control records.
Identify delivery bottlenecks early and agree on proactive recovery actions when timelines drift.
Governance, Portfolio & Financial Control
Maintain a consolidated view of the programme portfolio to assist leadership in evaluating new initiatives prior to commitment.
Track project budgets, commitments, forecasts, invoicing schedules, and financial variances in close coordination with the Finance team.
Gather and organize required evidence for milestone invoicing, compliance, and reporting audits.
Establish proportionate governance frameworks and prepare actionable decision papers for senior leadership.
Operational Reporting & Coordination
Produce clear, concise weekly, monthly, and quarterly delivery and operational reports tailored for executive and stakeholder audiences.
Coordinate technology incidents and service outages through to root-cause identification and remediation—without taking over direct engineering duties.
Build practical delivery discipline across operational teams to reduce unnecessary escalation of routine issues to the CEO.
Collaborate closely with technical leads to ensure cross-team commitments remain on track.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Experience: Minimum of 5 years managing complex technology, IT infrastructure, or digital service delivery projects.
Multi-Stakeholder Management: Proven track record of managing projects across multiple independent teams or external organizations.
Project Controls: Hands-on experience with project financial tracking, forecasting, risk management, and formal change control.
Reporting: Demonstrated ability to write concise, data-driven reports and briefings for executive management.
Service Coordination: Experience coordinating operational incidents, service delivery, or IT service operations.
Technical Collaboration: Ability to interface effectively with software/infrastructure engineers and technical leads without needing to be the primary engineer.
Skills: Exceptional follow-through, workshop facilitation, and written and verbal communication in English.
Desirable
Professional certifications in project, programme, or service management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, ITIL).
Prior experience working within or alongside Research and Education Networks (RENs) or higher education institutions.
Working knowledge of French.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is highly structured, comfortable balancing competing priorities, and skilled at converting high-level strategy into execution plans. You are confident operating at the intersection of executive leadership, finance, and technical delivery—maintaining clear records, identifying risks before they escalate, and ensuring team accountability at every stage.
