Role Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Agroforestry Nursery Manager to lead our nursery operations. In this role, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of high-quality agroforestry planting materials—ranging from seed sourcing and propagation to plant growth and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management: Direct seed sourcing, propagation, and day-to-day nursery activities for agroforestry cultivation.
Infrastructure Upkeep: Maintain screen houses, seedbeds, pots, tools, equipment, and irrigation infrastructure.
Health & Protection: Monitor plant health closely and implement effective pest and disease management measures.
Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and supervise nursery staff, interns, and seasonal workers.
Inventory & Logistics: Maintain accurate records, manage inventory, oversee certification processes, and coordinate efficient seedling distribution.
Requirements and Qualifications
Educational Background: HND or BSc in Agriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Botany, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in plant or tree nursery management.
Technical Proficiency: Practical skills in grafting, budding, and plant propagation, alongside comprehensive knowledge of integrated pest and disease management.
Core Competencies: Excellent leadership, training, record-keeping, and organizational skills, paired with a genuine passion for plants and sustainable agriculture.
Additional Advantages
Candidates possessing any of the following will have an added advantage:
Experience with seed and plant certification procedures.
Proven track record of collaborating with farmers, agronomists, or field teams.
Strong familiarity with local planting conditions and regional agroforestry systems.
