About the Role
Library Aid Africa is seeking a creative and strategic Communications Officer to strengthen its storytelling, amplify organizational impact, and deepen engagement with communities across Africa.
In this role, you will lead content creation, oversee media relations, manage digital channels, and document the real-world impact of our programs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Campaigns: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies and plans for organizational activities, campaigns, and major initiatives.
Content Creation & Storytelling: Produce compelling articles, stories, case studies, social media content, visuals, and other communication materials.
Impact Documentation: Document program activities through engaging human-interest stories, interviews, photography, videography, and appropriate media formats.
Digital & Channel Management:
Develop, publish, and regularly update website content.
Oversee the organizational newsletter, including content planning, production, distribution, and performance monitoring.
Manage social media publishing calendars, analyze channel performance, and implement strategies to drive audience engagement.
Media & Public Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with media organizations, journalists, editors, and sector-specific publications.
Draft press releases, media statements, and related press materials.
Coordinate and support media requests, interviews, and public engagements.
Asset Management: Maintain a structured, organized library of communication assets, media files, and impact stories.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications
Degree: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Media & Communication, Digital Media, International Development, or a related field.
Added Advantage: Professional training or certifications in communications, digital marketing, public relations, or content strategy.
Professional Experience
2–4 years of relevant professional experience in communications, media, PR, digital communications, or content creation.
Proven track record in developing and executing communication strategies or public campaigns.
Demonstrated experience managing institutional social media platforms, websites, and newsletter channels.
Background in media relations, working directly with journalists, media outlets, and external stakeholders.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Desirable: Experience communicating program impact in NGOs, social enterprises, development organizations, libraries, education, or technology sectors.
