About Health Progress Hub (HPH)
Health Progress Hub supports high-impact global health organizations with country prioritization, applied research, and research management. By joining HPH as our first hire beyond the founding team, you will play a key role in shaping how our organization operates, scales, and creates measurable impact across global health, development, and health policy.
About the Role
As a Research and Scaling Officer, you will help high-impact charities determine where to launch and expand their programs while overseeing research projects led by emerging leaders from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In this role, you will collaborate with charity founders, senior advisors, government officials, researchers, and global health leaders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prioritization Research
Review and refine country prioritization models, datasets, and underlying resources.
Construct weighted factor models to enable systematic, multi-country comparisons.
Conduct in-depth research on potential expansion countries, assessing disease burden, health system structures, local regulations, potential partners, operating costs, and overall feasibility.
Contribute to HPH’s internal strategic agenda regarding high-priority global health interventions.
2. Research Management
Oversee active research projects by evaluating research questions, study designs, timelines, and deliverables.
Conduct midpoint and final reviews of research outputs, providing constructive written and verbal feedback to researchers and mentors.
Identify pathways for high-potential research projects to transition into sustained initiatives through HPH, partner organizations, or host research teams.
3. Research Strategy
Elevate HPH’s methodologies and quality benchmarks for prioritization research.
Formulate research agendas across targeted domains, including lead exposure, transformative AI in global health, market shaping for essential medicines, and health systems strengthening.
Spot strategic opportunities to support researchers and institutions targeting high-impact health challenges.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We prioritize exceptional talent and core problem-solving ability over a rigid checklist of qualifications.

Analytical & Applied Experience: Demonstrated background in applied research or analysis within global health, international development, or health policy.
Project Ownership: Proven ability to take open-ended research questions from initial scoping to actionable outputs used for decision-making.
Self-Direction: Strong organizational and project management skills; capable of managing multiple deliverables independently with minimal supervision.
Adaptability & Focus: Ability to quickly digest new project areas, re-scope priorities when necessary, and display strong technical judgment.
Feedback & Communication: Experience delivering direct, actionable written and verbal feedback to stakeholders.
Track Record of Initiative: Demonstrated history of starting, improving, or optimizing a project, process, or team.
Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to generating measurable positive impact in global health.

Experience managing research teams or third-party research projects.
Familiarity with weighted factor models or country-level prioritization frameworks.
Operational or research experience in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Background with aligned organizations (e.g., GiveWell-backed charities, Ambitious Impact, J-PAL, or Innovations for Poverty Action).
Experience leveraging AI tools for research workflows and analysis.
Experience in early-stage, startup, or small organizational environments.
Why Join Us?
High-Impact Work: Direct involvement in scaling global health interventions and working with emerging leaders from LMICs.
