The Youth and Students in Innovation (YSI) programme is an initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Designed to bridge the gap between academic research and market-ready enterprise, the programme equips young Nigerians with practical, hands-on digital skills, helps scale creative ideas into sustainable enterprises, and fosters local job creation.
Programme Overview
Focus Areas: Technology, Innovation, Digital Skills, Emerging Technologies, Entrepreneurship, and Youth Empowerment
Target Audience: Young Nigerians and students interested in tech, innovation, and digital enterprise
Location: Nigeria (All Geopolitical Zones)
Core Objectives
Skills for the Future: Provide practical training across general courses and 8 specialized innovation tracks.
Talent Identification: Discover, recognize, and nurture emerging innovators across all geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
Frontier Tech Exposure: Introduce participants to cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of global work.
Sustained Mentorship: Connect participants with ecosystem leaders for guidance and post-programme community support.
From Innovation to Income: Establish clear pathways to turn tech concepts and prototypes into viable jobs and commercial ventures.
Policy Contribution: Facilitate Youth Innovation Communiqués from each geopolitical zone to inform national STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation) policy.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be a young Nigerian citizen or student.
Demonstrable interest or background in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, or digital skills.
Driven to translate creative ideas or prototypes into economic solutions.
