About the Project
Ikore Empowerment Foundation is anticipating a 3-year agricultural market systems project focused on strengthening Farmer Organizations, improving market responsiveness, supporting farmer-led advocacy, and driving the adoption of agricultural innovations across targeted states in Nigeria.
Role Summary
The ACSM Officer will lead community-level advocacy, communications, and social mobilization in their assigned state. You will empower Farmer Organizations, facilitate stakeholder dialogues, cultivate farmer champions, and build trust in agricultural innovations. This role bridges the gap between smallholder farmers, government institutions, and private-sector actors to build more accountable and responsive market systems.
Key Responsibilities
Community Mobilization & Capacity Building: Mobilize Farmer Organizations, producer groups, and community structures to serve as effective advocacy, learning, and market platforms.
Farmer-Led Advocacy: Guide groups to identify systemic barriers, lead evidence-based advocacy, track policy commitments, and coordinate dialogue with public and private stakeholders.
Strategic Communication: Implement localized campaigns, leverage Farmer/Youth/Women Champions for peer learning, and run community validation exercises to counter misinformation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Linkages: Build collaborative networks with agro-dealers, processors, financial institutions, extension agents, and local government officials.
Gender & Social Inclusion (GESI): Drive targeted inclusion strategies for women, youth, and underserved populations in leadership and market activities.
Monitoring & Operational Support: Collect field data, draft monthly updates and success stories, track adoption trends, and coordinate ground logistics for community trainings and events.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Mass Communication, Development Studies, Sociology, or related fields.
Experience: Minimum 5 years implementing community-based agriculture, rural development, or agricultural market systems projects (donor-funded experience preferred).
Technical Skills: Proven experience in community mobilization, advocacy campaigns, farmer organization development, and participatory field data collection.
